Notice of Inertia
Hi, everyone! LJ just sent me a nudge reminding me that I haven't updated this journal in *cough* 78 weeks. Oh, dear. (Hi, Aaron!) To summarize the last 1.2 years, I took a new job that requires me to be on-site (with no Internet access) and commute both ways. So LJ and (tragically for me) my fiction writing dropped out of my life for a while. I'd been fortunate enough to work out of my home the previous 8 years, and the change was a huge mental and physical shock. As I got back into the routine of working in an office, I gradually learned how to take better care of my health and all those mundane tasks that go along with just living. And slowly, in tiny bits, I've been adding some fiction writing back in. None of it is Beatles. I love my boys, but I don't have a new story idea for them yet, and it would require research (which I love, but have no time for these days). My new stories are all Star Trek, inspired by the 2009 movie which got me back on my Spock kick. I've loved that complicated Vulcan for years, and could write him in my sleep. The new short stories are posted at my "general" (not just fanfic) journal, mariole. If any of you are interested in picking up the first ST story (they're all linked), you can check it out at The Benefits of Fresh Air. For pure fiction lovers, you might want to check out my fanfiction page at http://www.fanfiction.net/~marioleThere's no Beatles there, but I have two M*A*S*H novelettes, several Lord of the Rings stories, and the completed Star Trek 2009 stories posted. I write fanfic to relax, so I tend to write what's in my current field of interest. I don't expect anyone else to share all my enthusiasms, but it would be fun if you happened to anyway. :) So, that's the 1.2-year wrap-up! I hope that everyone is doing well. I've had so much fun with the Beatles and this fandom. I hope I'll be fortunate enough to spend some time here again. Best wishes. | | Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 | | 7:56 pm |
The Space Between Us All - Acknowledgements
Eleven months ago, I started pulling together the notes for the "short story" that would eventually grow into the massive novel The Space Between Us All. Two items sparked the creation of this story: John Lennon's "Jesus statement" and its possible relevance to the social and political situation today, and a dimly remembered item from a Beatles book I had read ages ago, ( The Space Between Us All, Acknowledgements ) | | 7:40 pm |
